James Mathison, KAAL TV Prep Athlete of the Week

If you missed it, here is the link to the KAAL TV coverage on James as their Prep Athlete of the Week!  Congratulations James, what an honor!  Wonderful recognition to cap off your CC career!

One final reminder, there are mostly varsity uniforms and sweats still out.  Would those athletes please get them to me ASAP so I can complete inventory and store them.  Varsity athletes that want to use a uniform for senior pictures can request one at that time.  We don't want "lost" items our first year! Too expensive!  Thank you to all athletes and parents that got them cleaned up and turned in right away!

State Meet & Season Wrap Up

What a season it has been! James making it to the State meet for the final run of his Tiger CC career and Chrissy making SHS history as the first female to repeat a trip to State. Awesome!  The weather was comfortable for Saturdays run. James ran an All-State performance (top 25) finishing in 19th place and Chrissy a season best time placing 44th. Their dedication and hard work paid off and they are an example to all of where that can take you. We are all so proud!

At the banquet honors were bestowed on 7th grader Isabel Field for Most Improved of the 2014 season.  She started as a junior high runner and finished the season as our number 5 varsity runner.  Great job, great season Isabel!

Heather Husgen received the Tiger Spirit Award for her dedication, consistency, discipline and dependability to the sport.  As coaches, we look for these qualities in an athlete as they help their teammates develop as individual competitors as well as into a stronger team. Thank you Heather!

We have 3 HVL All-Conference recipients this season.  They are James Mathison, Chrissy Lofgren (8th)and Marie Larson (14th). Congratulations to all three of you!  Great efforts!

The MVP awards for male and female go to James and Chrissy!

Chrissy was the number one runner all season for the team and she finished the year with a season best time of 15:47. She also earned All-State Academic honors for carrying a 3.75 GPA or better (3.906) while participating  / repeating in the State meet. Way to go Tiger Lofgren!

And for big brother Yahms (James to the sisters), he received the MVP Award and lettered for the 6th straight year. He achieved his goal of getting to the state meet!!  He finished in 19th place in a time of 16:32 which earned him All-State honors. He has developed his talents over the 6 years with steady and consistent dedication to doing what it takes and he reaped the rewards at the highest level. You have been an example to our entire team James, on many levels and we thank you for that!  We are proud of you and wish you well in your future!

Finally, we say congratulations, well done and thank you to the seniors who will be leaving our program.  Caitlyn Hughes and Emily Scruggs brought some new blood for their solo year in the "family" and we enjoyed having them.  Lauren Mikel and James Mathison have been with us for 6 years!!!  It is sad to know that they won't be with us next year for swimming, handing out their uniform bag (James, I need yours!) to another teammate to follow in their steps, and all the other activities that we enjoy together.  I'm sure they will find a new path to run wherever they are, even if they deny it now! :D  Good luck to you all and may blessings abound to you wherever you go!

Thanks again to everyone for the part that you played in making our program and this season a success!  You are appreciated!
