Friday Game & Concessions

The FB game Friday night will be 2 state-ranked teams, Stewartville vs. Kasson-Mantorville.  It will be a big game and our work staff will be about half the students as a regular game because varsity and coaches are going to Duluth.

PLEASE, parents and runners, be in attendance at the concessions Friday night. Remember, this is why the athletes don't have to be out selling cookie dough or selling magazines or Silver Saver cards.  We make our spending money through this venue but we do need to make sure we cover the bases, or another group would be happy to come in and take it over. Cheryl asks that we have more adults working in the hot chocolate area and fewer students.   If working the window, while one order is coming, look to the next person and ask what they would like and start on their order.  There have been complaints about the long lines so let's try to do as much as we can to get them through.

Thank you in advance!  I will talk to Cheryl about a sign-up sheet for more clarity for everyone.

ZM and Next Week Pictures and More

Runners overall ran well at ZM tonight.  We just came off a high of numerous PB's from Blooming and it's hard to top that. Lauren was the only runner to drop time over the BP time by 19 seconds. Way to go Lauren!  Several minor injuries and sickness issues were hampering us tonight as well.

Our picture date has been changed for the final time!  They will be next Thursday, October 3rd.  Wear your uniform and bring your packet for the photographer.

Practice for Friday, September 27th has been cancelled.  There are too many sickly, injured, hurting individuals.  You all need to get out of school with the bell, go home, rest, drink plenty of fluids, rest, ice the injuries, ice again, and rest.  If you are healthy and feeling awesome, get out for a run at your leisure with a friend. Go for a bike ride or roller blade if you'd rather cross train.  Do your abs and stretches.  Be ready to come back REFRESHED next Monday.

Looking ahead to next week, meet on Tuesday at Chatfield and then varsity to Duluth on Friday.  All others will be working the concession stand next Friday for a BIG game against KM!  PLAN TO BE THERE!  Parents, if AT ALL POSSIBLE, try to get in a shift during the game as it will be busy and we will have fewer workers available!  Thanks for all your efforts!  Talk to Cheryl Paulson if you have any questions, or let me know early in the week and I can connect with her.

Blooming Prairie --Nice!

Our runners did a fine job at Blooming Prairie Tuesday. Many PB's to celebrate. The biggest being Marie Rindahl at over 2 minutes faster than her previous best 3200m. time! Way to go! Isaiah captured first in the jr. high group and our varsity girls were one tiny point from capturing first place team honors! Chrissy led with a strong 2nd place finish and our 2-7 runners packed very tightly together. James charged  to a 4th place finish. Awesome everyone!

Homecoming Run a Success!

All went well on the annual homecoming run Friday.  We experienced all kinds of weather but the cooler temps and cloudy day made for a pretty good run. Everyone got in quite a few miles.  Way to go runners! These pictures tell some of the story. It appears that the football team was inspired because we killed them on the scoreboard Friday night! Thank you to all the helpers at the concession stand; it was BUSY! Your time and efforts are greatly appreciated! Also, a special thank you to all the parents that donated extra candy for the parade. It certainly made it a successful experience for everyone!

Shirt decorating

Preparing for the homecoming run with a t-shirt decorating session.

Lake City

Some powerful performances yesterday at Lake City by our runners.  James wowed us by dropping 1:01 for a personal best time of 17:04. Chrissy led the charge for the girls and dropped 27 seconds for a 15:40.98 personal best. Others dropping their times yesterday include Marie L. (-1:01), Laura P. (-17), Isaiah S. (-1:45) Shawn H. (-18) and Devon V. (-33).  Check the results link for further details.  Way to go Tigers!

Homecoming Week

This is a busy week at school with homecoming activities, CC meet @ Lake City on Tuesday, and the homecoming run for 9th - 12th graders on Friday.
We will be in the parade on Friday at 5 p.m.  Gather in front of the school at 4:30.  There will be NO JUNIOR HIGH PRACTICE on Friday!

On Wednesday, after practice, at school, the team will be creating t-shirts for homecoming.  Riley is buying t-shirts, bring $ to cover the cost, approx. $4. If you have extra fabric paint, you can bring that along too.

In recent years, Mr. G. and I would use the gator from school to ride on and the runners would walk and carry our sign and hand out candy.  Some years a family would have a truck or trailer that we've used to carry some or all of our runners and coaches.  I'm putting out the word, if you have something that we could use for the parade as our "float", please contact me or send word through your son/daughter.

Next Monday, September 23 is our PICTURE DAY! Bring your uniform!

Then we get busy with 2 meets: Blooming Prairie on Tuesday and Zumbrota-Mazeppa on Thursday.

Rochester Run

Saturday the varsity runners enjoyed a beautiful morning exploring new heights and trails at Quarry Hill and beyond!  Thank you Mr. Parry for the "surprise".  We topped it off with a stop at Sekapp's Orchard for some fine honey crisp apples. Way to start the day!

Mayo Invite -- State Meet Caliber Experience, Wow!

What a thrill to be amongst the best in the state gathered right here in Rochester.  Our runners did an awesome job tonight. I hope all the runners 7-12 got a sense of the excitement that is part of being involved in this fine sport. I also hope that it has increased everyone's "Can Do" and "Will Do" spirit to lead us through the next half of the season.

On that note ;-), VARSITY runners will meet at school Saturday a.m. at 8:45 for our trip to Rochester.  We will swing by the Section meet golf course to start setting our sites and then off to Quarry Hill to run the trails and a stop to Sekapp's Orchard to finish off the morning. Fun!  :D

Action Shots!

Monday Night Dinner @ Paulsons CANCELLED!

Runners!

Cancel the dinner message below!  The senior girls didn't realize that they had a class meeting that night.  Stay tuned for the update at practice.

However, we will do Gimme Some of Dat (I mean That) day on the Tuesday trip to Lake City. This is a long-standing tradition on the team whereby half the members bring "food" for the team to share on the bus trip home.  I would like to heavily encourage A HEALTHY CHOICE to share and go light on candy, NOT in the food pyramid!  The upper grades are in charge so 9th - 12th are "hosting"!  Start sharing your ideas!

Cancel Below
Monday night there will be a team get together for dinner and t-shirt making for next week's homecoming events at Paulsons after practice.  The seniors are in charge and will let you know the cost for the t-shirt at practice.  Dinner is provided. It sounds like fun!

Reminder that Tuesday we go to Lake City and the homecoming run is on Friday for all CC runners grades 9-12!

Byron Baby!

Way to go tonight at Byron, junior high! EVERYONE  is looking stronger and showing improvement.  I will post the results when they come in.

It was worth the wait to see our girls get medals for first through fourth places. YAY!  Isaiah took first place by a good margin for the boys, WOOOT! Followed by strong finishes by his teammates.

First was Autumn followed by Ashley, Lori B. And Laura P. Fun times!

500 Mile T-shirt Recipients

Congratulations to Riley and James on accomplishing the feat of accumulating 500 miles.  They were awarded their t-shirts at practice yesterday.  (Picture to follow). :D

Byron Junior High

The meet at Byron will be held behind the new high school near a soccer field and a corn field. Boys and Girls junior high race at 4:35.  Hope to see you there!

Hayfield in the Book

What a fun night of competition at Hayfield!  Our runners did an awesome job in their individual races. I especially noted some very strong fights to the finish line showing a lot of grit and intestinal fortitude!  Way to go Tigers! The runners had several hard workouts this week so some were running tired and a bit sore but the season is early so we don't worry about today.  Awesome job to everyone!

Reminder that tonight is our first home football game and we need to host the concession stand.  All hands on deck at half-time Runners, until we see if we have enough coverage to run shifts.  We appreciate the help of our boosters to pull this off.

What can you do on a weekend without practice?  Run!  Even a small amount of running on your own will keep your mileage base and loosen you up.  If you aren't feelin' it, then cross-train with a bike ride, swim, elliptical machine, roller-blade. Something that gets your heart rate up and mimicks some of the movements of running.  Don't forget to rest; equally important!  Finally, hydrate, hyrdrate, hydrate!

Congratulations to Ashley, Laura, Dylan, Chrissy and James for making it to the awards stand!  Way to lead the charge!

Byron Invite for Jr. High next Tuesday

Runners and Parents,

Please note the link to the right for our CC schedule.  It takes you to the HVL Conference.org website with the date, place, and time for each meet.  If you are not familiar with this site, click on the link to the course and it usually gives you a map to get you there.  They also tell you who our competition will be that day.  Useful site!  NOTE:  Next Tuesday to Byron just added, NOT on the site schedule!  This will be for junior high and JV (that choose to) only!

My apologies on not having information to the Post-Bulletin on the CC Preview.  I was equally disappointed to see the article and not see our fine athletes mentioned in the season preview, however I was not informed of this article coming out.

We are looking forward to the Hayfield meet tonight with the full roster and then Byron next Tuesday for junior high only and then Varsity and JV to Rochester Mayo next Thursday.  The junior high will be travelling with the team to Mayo for their workout and cheer on their varsity teammates.

First Day of School

Good job today Runners!  Everyone worked hard and it was a tough workout. Remember to ice any sore muscles in a circular "massage" motion for 15 to 20 minutes after a tough workout.  Soak in a tub may feel good too.  I'm proud of the extra efforts that several showed today running the extra mile.  Prepare for Thursday by getting good rest tonight, Tuesday, and hydrating!

The details for the Hayfield meet are at the link to the right. Reminder to parents and athletes, we have concessions on Friday night for the home football game.  Plan to be there.  We need helpers, particularly during half-time!  Check with Cheryl about the sign-up sheet schedule.  It's how we pay for our snacks and other things we enjoy!

See you tomorrow!

Coach T.
