Pie, Part 2.

What a great night to run at Lake City!  All levels saw many personal bests on the fast, flat course.  A good night to see where we are at individually and as a team.  The girls are showing their depth with the JV placing a strong 2nd while the varsity took home the Apple PIE! for the 2nd year in a row scoring a very low 37 points to Lake City's 79.  The boys had some strong performances top to bottom as well.  Check out the results to the right in 2016 Meet results.

Well done Tigers!  There is more to come with JV and Junior high running at Pine Island on Thursday.  Friday is picture day so wash your uniforms right away Thursday night and don't forget your envelope with your order and money for Friday!

Finally, those going to the Roy Griak on Saturday plan to leave at 12:15 to arrive about 2:15.  The boys race at 4:05 and the girls race at 4:55.  We will plan to get something to eat afterwards and then head for home.

Mayo Invite Plus

It was a great night at the course in Rochester and our girls claimed fifth place with Abby getting the medal that she never got last year finishing in the lightning storm on JV.  So gratifying to place second on varsity!! It's been a long wait and she has earned it!  Equally exciting is Gracie Waltman's personal best on such a hilly course.  That was the only PB of the night and by quite a margin, 1:17 over her previous best!  Way to go Gracie!!  All our runners did a fine job and gained some valuable "big meet" experience.

The results are in the folder to the right.

Lake City on Tuesday and the 24th to U of M golf course for varsity at the Roy Griak Invitational.  More information to follow.

Byron Junior High

The junior high had a good time at Byron and the boys captured 1st (Christopher Remling) and 4th (Jakob Ratelle) while the girls captured first with Olivia Field over the 1.5 mile course.

There were several personal bests and a lot of spirit on the course.  Well done runners!  Check out the results at wayzataresults.com.

Upcoming Events

A lot of events coming up with Lake City next Tuesday (please bring a towel athletes, if you intend on going in the river!); Roy Griak Invitational for varsity runners on Saturday, September 24th and then the homecoming run and overnight in Lovely Lewiston directly after the St. Charles invitational, Thursday, September 29th-30th. That would be for eligible 9th - 12th graders which means no D's or F's.

As I am planning for these events, it is imperative that I know if any athlete will not be in attendance.  I reserve vehicles, purchase food and most importantly, send in my roster well in advance so I need written notification if anyone is going to be gone so that I can adjust the game plan.  Please know too, that when I plan our meets, I look for opportunities to have the best competition for our team to show ourselves what's possible.  If individuals don't take being at a meet seriously, we fail in trying to see what we can do together!  My wish is that each individual is at each meet, if at all possible!

Finally, I feel like we have a lot of students missing practice for various reasons. Parents, would you please send me a note if your son/daughter is coming home early and missing practice.  I would like confirmation from you, not just a text message from your son/daughter, that they indeed are home sick or have appts. etc.

Thanks so much for your support and understanding.  These are fun and fleeting times!  We need to savor each day as the season will be in the rear view mirror before we know it.  Let me know if you have any questions!

Girls Win Bill Glomski Invitational!

What a night it was at the races!  The weather was the best we've seen in years.  Twenty-one teams competed and the home teams did very well!  Thanks to the boosters for all they did to keep the crowd hydrated and fed and moving through the finish line area. A lot of great help that we couldn't function without; thank you all!

The girls came out the winners for the first time in school history according to The Man, Mr. G. himself.  It was so exciting to see the results of their efforts. Not to be outdone, the boys finished in fine form in 8th place out of 21 teams.
Impressive for our developing squad!  The results are found here, at Wayzataresults.com.  Also, with all 2016 meet results in the folder to the right.

Next week we will have practice on Monday at 5:00 p.m. and each day after school from 3:10 to 5:10.  Tuesday we may have another pool practice.  Stay tuned as your runner could be picked up at the pool if they need a ride.

Next week we go to Hayfield on Thursday, September 8.  The following Tuesday is Junior High at Byron and JV and Varsity to Mayo on Thursday.  I will send info sheets out via email as they come in.

Have a great Labor Day weekend everyone.  See you at the FB concessions tonight!
