Priority One, Get Healthy, Plus!

Good efforts tonight runners!  We have a lot going on amongst us.  Tomorrow is an early release day from school.  It will be a practice on your own day. We have many things going on from illness, to injury to academics.  I want to take the rest of the week for those that are injured to plan on cross-training. Ride your bike fast and work up a sweat  for a minimum of 30 minutes, use the elliptical if you have one and continue to do abs, stretches and weights or weight substitutes like push-ups etc.  For those that are or have been ill, do what you can or rest if you must, but get healthy! For those that can, run a recovery run of 3-4 miles with abs and stretches.

EVERYONE, check your grades and get all over anything that needs your attention in the classroom. Next week is homecoming and VERY BUSY with some activities that may not happen for you if your grades are not as they should be!  Those that are healthy and not injured, we will practice together on Thursday.  Any questions, stop by my room.

Update!

Last night was a great night for personal bests (PB's) on the Lake City course. There were 12 individuals that got their best times; some by as much as nearly 2 minutes!  Awesome effort runners!  Let's keep the focus and enthusiasm through the rest of the season!

Practice on Thursday will be out at Autumn Feine and Coach King's place (neighbors).  We will depart right after school and leave for their Spring Valley address (about 11 miles from school).  There will be two school vehicles taking the kids to the home and Feine's will host a dinner afterwards for the runners. The school vehicles will return them to school approximately 6-6:30 p.m.  The exception to this would be if a parent were to pick their child up instead of them returning to school.

Click on "Coach King" for directions to her address and then Autumn's place is the next house on the right going south.  Any questions, check with your son/daughter or give me a call.

Luther All-American Invite a Success!

The Stewartville runners did very well at the Decorah meet.  There were a few PB's (Isaiah, Shawn, Janessa, Mack), good job!  The girls junior high got third overall--excellent!  James beat an area nemesis or two! And James and Dylan were within a spit of their PB's.  It was a beautiful day in Iowa with great competition.  Now, only one meet per week for the rest of the season!  Whew!

Gimme some of that day Tuesday, reminder!  Thursday, practice and dinner @ Autumns.  Transportation is still being checked into so ask your son or daughter on Monday.

Two Down, One to Go!

This week at Byron many ran inspired as the girls ruled top to bottom winning at Varsity, JV and Junior High by narrow margins!  Well done Ladies!  We had boys in the top 5 in all three races; well done Guys!

Mayo, a hilly experience, was good training with the big schools giving us great competitive experience!  Great weather, great course and great competition! It's good to be a runner!

A couple reminders, tomorrow is a run/stretch/abs on your own practice.  Get a good supper and a little rest and then concessions at 6:15, first shift.

Saturday a.m., 6:20 report to school and departure is at 6:30. Rest up and let's have a great day!  Whippy Dip or bust!

Reminder: next Tuesday we travel to Lake City where we usually do "gimme some of that day".  It is a team tradition where the kids bring something to share for a treat on the trip home.  I prefer something with nutritional value and ease in serving.  We can "splurge" a little but be thinking ahead if you need to prepare or shop in advance!  The kids often times bake bars, cookies, bring crackers and cheese, veggies and dip etc. as some ideas.

T-shirts Anyone?

We would like to sell our leftover Stewie Invite t-shirts, at cost, to anyone that would like one.We have 17 large, 3 medium and 18 small.  We are sending in an order for XL and above. If you would like one, please let me know ASAP.  Cost to you is $8.00.  What a deal!  Let me know your size and send money with your son or daughter. We will send them home with your runner child.
