Last Coaches Evening Run--Beginning of Captain's Practice

Runners!

I hope that you are all logging some miles regularly.  In only 11 days we begin practices where you will be running 5 days in a row.  You want to be "broken in" before then!

Tonight Mr. Parry will join you for our last Wednesday evening coaches run while I will be heading to Mpls. for a coaching clinic.  Please know that I ran at 6 a.m. however! ;-)

Now, there will be "captain's practices" held at 9 a.m. beginning tomorrow morning, August 1 through next Friday, August 9. NOTE the TIME CHANGE from previous morning runs.

If there are family trips, job commitments etc. that don't allow you to be there, MAKE SURE you are RUNNING on your own!  Add in some sit-ups and stretches to round out the workouts.

If you are experiencing soreness, ICE is the best go to remedy.  You may want to add water to Dixie cups and keep them in the freezer and then do ice massage for about 15 minutes a couple times a day.

One last thing.  Let's talk about PEE.  I know, it's gross.  However it is an important indicator of your level of hydration.  The only time your urine / pee should be darker is in the a.m. or if you are taking certain vitamins. Otherwise, if your urine is dark(apple juice), you NEED MORE WATER! Make it a habit to drink a full glass of water every morning when you wake up as well as throughout the day.  If you haven't already, watch the color of your urine/pee to get an idea of what clear, well-hydrated urine should look like (lemonade).  The time to hydrate is now!

Remember, only 11 days til the start of the 2013 CC season!

Wednesday, July 17 & Thursday, July 18 Runs Cancelled!

Runners!

Due to the Heat Advisory I am cancelling our running sessions tonight and tomorrow morning. When it cools down a bit, continue to build up your running base. Proper hydration occurs all day, every day so drink plenty of water!

Remember, if you have sore muscles, shins or joints, do ice massage for 15 minutes at a time on the area that hurts.  If you are adding too much mileage too soon, it may be a sign to back off a bit.  Get in some stretches.  The links to the right are good resources to use.

Also, Terra Loco running store in Rochester near Trader Joe's offers a 20% discount on everything but Garmin watches and gps units to the CC runners.

Rogans Shoes offers a 15% discount on their shoes to the athletes.  Tell them you are on the Stewie CC team!

CC Sign-Up Tonight, July 15th, 6:00 P.M. optional Trainer Session; 7:00 P.M. Athletic Director mandatory session.

Runners and Parents!
Don't forget that the sign-up night for CC is Monday, July 15th. Spread the word to any of your teammates that may not be checking this site!  Optional Mayo Clinic trainers session on concussions etc. at 6:00 and mandatory athletic director session at 7:00 p.m.  Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Reminder to continue to log some miles BEFORE the season starts.  It will pay BIG dividends when we begin our training together in August.  Drink plenty of fluids every day and get in some good stretching and ab work.  Remember the links to the right will provide you with some conditioning opportunities.

Happy running!

Summer Runs Continue

Hey Runners!
Thanks to those that have been showing up at the Tuesday and Thursday runs with Riley and Raven.  They will continue to be at the Middle School doors on those days, at 8 a.m. for a run and stretch etc. beginning tomorrow, July 9th.  Coach Parry and I will also be available Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. by the track / back parking lot area for a run and stretching.  Plan to continue to increase your mileage as the beginning of the season is fast approaching.  You will be glad you did!  Also, don't limit your runs to only those days; try to get in more, especially if you are a veteran runner.

Only 34 days to the start of the season!
