2013 Season Wrap-up

Thank you to everyone that played a part in our successful CC season.  It was fun, busy and flew by very quickly.  We had a good turnout at the potluck which was nice to see.  There were so many things that crossed my mind that could have been said about our wonderful athletes but at the moment some things stick and others "fly away", but please know that each athlete holds a special and meaningful place on our team.

Some housekeeping items.  For those that have not turned in their uniforms, please do so ASAP in a bag with your name on it.  If you ran on the Section varsity team, you have a t-shirt waiting for you when your uniform is returned to my room. Please see me if this applies to you.  Also, there are a few unclaimed home invite t-shirts that need to be picked up.  If you do not have your gray invitational shirt, please see me.

I read through the booklet and noticed our last Runners of the Week, Laura P. and Lauren M., were not included.  I will print some copies in my room for those that want to pick them up and add them to their booklet.  I will also paste the article below and you can copy and paste in case you'd like to print your own.

Finally, it was great to see so many Stewie CC runners at the Gamehaven True Cross Country Race today in Rochester.  We did pretty well as a group. Heather and Chrissy took 2nd and 3rd in their age group.  James placed 3rd in his age group; Laura Pedelty placed 3rd and Lori Bailey was right behind in 4th.  Chrissy's mom, Sue, and cousin Kale, both CC alumni, also placed in their age groups as did your old (ol'?) Coach T. in my age group. Coach Parry was pacing his son Jack today so I am sure had he run full out he would also be bringing home the "granite". Next year we can bring even more!

Don't forget to check the link to the right for the Rochester Track Club with area races. It would be so nice to stay conditioned and continue with your racing "just for fun".  Also, consider the weight room, Tiger Training program for conditioning and Anytime Fitness I believe has student packages. I hope to see a lot of you at the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving day!

Runners of the Week
Laura Pedelty is a seventh grader in her first year of CC and has been placing as our 5-6 runner on varsity for eight of 10 meets this season,” said Tuseth.  “She started the season with a 4K time of 18:45 and finished with a personal best (PB) time of 18:00.  Laura is a hard worker at practice and it pays off with good form and strong finishes in each race.  We are looking forward to many good years watching her develop. Laura is the daughter of Larry and Sarah Pedelty.

Lauren Mikel is a junior and has been running CC for five years,” said Tuseth. Lauren has achieved several PBs this season, racing on varsity as our number 6-7 runner.  She started the season with a time of 20:53 and finished with a new personal best of 18:45 at the conference meet.  Lauren is the daughter of Dean and Nancy Mikel.
